Halloween Scrabble Art

Well Halloween is just around the corner!  Woo hoo!
I am happy to report I have all of my goodie bags ready!!!

This past weekend I was working on a small goodie basket for a neighbor and I wanted to add a little something to it but couldn't find anything at the store that caught my eye:(
So when I came home I remembered I had an old Scrabble game that was missing some tiles
and thought that I could make her a little saying for Halloween!

Super easy, fun, and it had a personal touch!!
All that was needed for this project besides the game was a
little hot glue!

"Halloween Greetings"

Above is the picture of the basket I made for our neighbors.
I think the Scrabble art was a nice addition!

I will be linking up with the following blog party:

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

Oktoberfest Party & Recipe!

Last weekend we were invited to an Oktoberfest party here in our neighborhood,
I must admit it was a blast and we really got to meet some nice people.

A lot of the party goers did dress up which really gave the party
that added flair:)

So with trying to stay true to the German Oktoberfest theme I looked online
for a recipe that was easy to make and transport.

Sure enough I found a recipe for:
Kartoffel Salat (German Hot Potato Salad)
Below is my head chef that also speaks German:)

Since I was getting my hair done that day my hubby was nice enough to
make the entire dish! :)  BONUS!!!  All I did was find the recipe and make
a tag for the dish.

He really did a nice job and the end result was delicious!

I would definitely recommend this one!  Listed below is a link
to this recipe if you would like to give it a try!

Slow Cooker German Potato Salad

Here we are at the party, maybe next year we will
dress up too:)

I thought I better get this posted since we are coming to the end
of October!  Where does the time go????

Happy Hump Day!

Deco Mesh Wreath: Think Pink!!!

Today I wanted to share with you one of my current wreath creations.  My inspiration
for this creation came from one of my sweet neighbors, she is a Mary Kay consultant!
Let me just say I am currently in love with their products so I think her and
I will be good friends:)  I wanted to donate this wreath to her group of
consultants for their local office.  So originally this wreath was supposed to be
a Mary Kay inspired creation but I believe it would work wonderfully for a
breast cancer awareness event or display.

Below is a picture of the supplies I started with:
I ended up not using the M or K because it looked too busy!
Less is more right ??? :)

For this wreath I used just a standard wire wreath form instead or a
work wreath because I wanted it to have a full look to it.  I attached the
deco mesh with pipe cleaners.  You can cut them in half to get more
out of each pack.

Now onto the sign!  I was at Hobby Lobby the other day
looking for some inspiration and came across this sign in the clearance area!!
You gotta love this saying and I think it is perfect for both themes!
I wasn't crazy about the leopard print so I was trying to think of a way to
minimize how loud it was :)  I ended up making a border to cover this area
with washi tape!  Much Better!!

Below is a a picture of the wreath after all of the curly Q's have been
added to the form.

Adding ribbon is one of the cheapest accents you can add
for the biggest effect.  I used two colors to really tie everything together.

The finished product!  Don't mind the corn stalks!
I like to take my pictures outside because I get better results :)
To make it more of a Mary Kay theme I added a lipstick ornament to the sign.
I wish I could have found more beauty themed items for this wreath but overall
I think it turned out well with lots of flair :)

Well I guess I better get started on my next creation.......
I made a list the other night of everything I would like to make for Christmas
and if I do the math correctly I should be done by Easter :)
I would like to thank Pinterest for this problem :)

Happy Crafting!!

Brown Sugar, Ham, & Swiss Sliders

Well since we are in football season and always looking
for simple recipes I think this is one that worthy of A Sunday game:)

I originally found this recipe at www.plainchicken.com
She has the best recipes that actually have ingredients that you can find at the store!!
I tweaked it a bit to make it healthier:)

Here is the ingredients I used:)
1/2 lb of low fat deli ham
4-5 slices of Sargento's Ultra Thin (40 calories per slice)
1/2 cup Parkay Spray (instead of real butter)
3/4 cup brown sugar
3 Tbsp Dijon mustard
1 package Sister Schubert Hawaiian Rolls (thawed)
Below is a picture of the ingredients I used:

Now here is all you need to do:)

Pre heat oven to 350 degrees
In a sauce pan combine butter, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard.  Stirring
continuously.  Remove from heat.

Cut rolls in half.  Brush the mixture on both sides on the rolls.
Layer cheese and ham on top.

Cover with foil and bake 15 minutes.  Remove the foil and bake an additional
8 minutes.  I also brushed the top of the rolls with the sugar
mixture because it was that good:)!!!

Here is a picture of the end product!!!  I served the sliders with
corn.  The dish kind of had a Sunday ham dinner feel without
hours of prep!!!

Happy Tailgating!!!

Outfit Inspiration: Boots, Heels, Or Wedges!

One of the challenge days on the 30 day Shop Your Wardrobe Challenge
is to wear an outfit that is styled around your shoes.  Such as the title of this post,
boots, heels, or wedges!  I have to admit this was an easy one for me because
I love all three choices!
Instead of just one outfit I decided to take one dress and make as
many outfits as I could with just changing out the shoes and accessories to give
it a different look each time!
So outfit #1 is pretty basic, simple dress paired with one of my
favorite pair of boots.

Added a belt:

Here I added a light jean jacket and scarf to make this
outfit work more for the Fall season!

Different belt with heels:

Different belt with wedges!

Added: a scarf, light jacket, belt, and a different
pair of a wedges.

Same as above but totally different look just by changing out
the color combination!

Below you have the same dress but changed out the color
of the accessories and shoes and you have a new look!

Lastly, I just added a jacket to the above outfit and instead of heels
I changed the shoes to boots or wedges and was able to
achieve a new outfit paring!
Even though I used the same dress in each of the above
combinations I was still able to make 9 different outfits just by
changing out the shoes and accessories!  The great thing about using this
dress is that it can be changed so easily with each of the seasons!

So here's to maximizing what you currently have in your closet!

30 Day Shop Your Wardrobe Challenge: Outfits 11-15

I am happy to announce that the closet challenge is still going good
and I feel like I am really achieving some great new outfits by doing this!
Today I wanted to share with you another 5 outfit ideas!
Outfit# 11:
Shoes never worn with this ensemble before:
I really have always liked this dress but never really dressed it before with
heels before.  I also added a cardigan to it since we are headed into the
Fall season.  LOVE IT!

I have always loved these shoes but never really wore them to
their full potential :(  I think by participating in this challenge I will get
more wear out of them and probably most of the shoes that are in my closet!

Here is how the outfit looks all put together!
I wore this outfit this past weekend to a concert and really loved
it looked and not to mention comfortable!

Outfit# 12:
A pattern with two colors
This challenge was a little harder for me because I don't wear a lot of prints
but this is what I came up with.
I have to admit I normally would not pair strips with this scarf but
after doing so it really brings out all of the colors in the scarf and really
gives this outfit a playful twist :)

Outfit #13:
Color on the bottom half
I really do love these green pants but I don't wear them as much
as I should and I usually pair them with a white shirt for a nice
Spring feel but decided to use the same scarf as above to give
this outfit a little pop!  I think the navy and green really work well together.

Outfit# 14:
A block of color, no patterns or prints
This one sounds pretty easy but is actually kind of hard but I made
it work and paired it with one of my favorite pair of shoes to make
this outfit a little more sassy!  The shoes are a leopard print heel :)
You can't go wrong with that combination!

Outfit# 15:
Something that feels SO you (that you have been waiting for permission to wear it! )
I have loved this dress since I bought it but have never actually wore it :(
It is one of those outfits that you feel like you need a reason to wear it!
However if I paired it with boots this would make a perfect
Fall outfit!

Well I hope you were able to get some ideas to use
in your own wardrobe to maximize your style and stay one budget!

Halloween Table Scape-Dollar Tree Scores!

Today I wanted to share with you my Halloween themed table scape.  Most of the
items used in this display came from the dollar store or a clearance sale
after last year's Halloween season!
I really wasn't sure if I would change out my dining room from the Fall decorations
to Halloween because it looked so pretty but I decided that I already brought most
of my decorations down from the attic I should try to do something with them!
Here is my Fall themed table scape from this year:
I like how the colors of the decorations blend nicely with the décor of this room.

Now onto the Halloween Table Scape!
I re-used the dishes, place mats, and candles, but gave the room a
whole new feel!

Here is a close up of the table.
The SPOOKY blocks were a score from Bon-Ton's clearance event.  I believe
I paid $7.00 for the set :)  The majority of the items came from the Dollar Tree!
Skulls: $1 each
Rat: $1
Crow: $1
Glitter Skulls: Bag/$1

Close up of the table setting!

DIY: Halloween Tree & Witches Legs!

Since our move I have really been cleaning out and purging
a lot of items, even Christmas decorations:(

Don't get me wrong I love to decorate for each holiday but
I have noticed that I appreciate the less is move approach here lately!

Since I will not be decorating 5 Christmas trees this year
I have decided to donate and sell a lot of the items that are not going to be used in this upcoming year.  When I came
across this little 4 foot tree in my stash I almost got rid of it but thought
at the last minute about spray painting it black and using it as a Halloween
decoration and that's exactly what I did!!

Here is the tree after being spray painted black!  Thanks to my wonderful
hubby who did such a nice job for me!

Below is the after picture of the tree all decorated!
I actually had all of the supplies needed to decorate this tree in my
stash!  I re-used the witches hat from last year as a tree topper, added deco mesh,
ribbon, and hand made picks to the tree.  I really love all of the fun colors
and how well it ties in with all of our decorations on the front porch!

Below is just another view of the tree.  It really looks pretty
at night when it is lit and the orange lights shine through the deco mesh!

So now onto the second project I finished for my Halloween display
outside........... Witches Legs!
I really love how cute and fun witches legs and shoes are so I wanted to
do something to incorporate that into my display!

Ok so from the picture above it doesn't look like a Halloween decoration
or anything creative for that matter but wait you will see!

I had an old pair of stripped tights from a couple of years ago that I thought would
be perfect for my witches legs!  However I wanted the legs to come out of the ground and
stand up so that is where I had to get a little creative!  I went out to the garage and started
to look through my hubby's workshop and all of the sudden I saw two old
golf shafts that he recently swapped out!  The shafts are perfect for the up
right display that I wanted but are too thin for the stockings so I rolled old magazines
up around the shafts and stuffed them with newspaper to give a more
full impression!  I have to admit I am pretty happy with the turn out!
I didn't have boots so I went to the Goodwill and scored the most amazing pair of
witches boots for only $4.00!!  :)

So here is what they look like!
Sorry for my shadow being in both pictures but you get the idea.
I think they are just a fun addition!  I love decorating for Halloween but I am more
on the fun and whimsical side than the scary!

Here is another view!

Last but not least is a witch inspired wreath I made for our front
door!  I re-used a sign and witches legs from a display I had last
year!  I really love legs come out the side of the wreath!

Well I hope you are getting ready the upcoming Halloween Holiday!
Remember to look through what you currently have and see if anything can
be used in a different way!  You don't need to run out the store and break the
bank for decorations.................... you will need to save that money for candy!!!! :)

I will be joining the following awesome blog parties:

Happy Hump Day!

Container Store Closet Divider Tags

In an attempt to keep my closet organized, pretty, and me
not wanting to go out go shopping I decided to spend $15 on
closet divider tags.  I was going to attempt to make them out of card board
but decided to splurge and get the plastic ones from the Container Store! :)

I love that store!  It is a great place to visit for ideas and inspiration!

With the help of my label maker I was able to clearly identify
each category within my closet.

Below is a view of the top row of my closet.

I did the same thing on the bottom row!

Not only is it visually appealing it makes putting away laundry a breeze!
With a better understanding of what you have in your closet it will
make you more creative with your outfit choices and hopefully curve
your appetite for wanting to shop all of the time!

So for a little investment in time and money I took another
step towards a more organized lifestyle :)

Thanks for stopping by!
