Fall Porch Decorating & 2 Easy Projects!

Over this past week I have completed my porch decorating for Fall!

I think I am the only one in our neighborhood so far so I wanted to
keep it simple but festive!

Below are some pictures of the space and two easy projects I
did to make it all come together!

Well I guess I actually made three things for our front porch!
The wreath below I already had but decided to just jazz it up by adding two
floral picks from Hobby Lobby, a couple little pumpkins, and a bow!

Below you can see the wreath on the door and all of our Fall Flair!
I really love how pretty it looks!  I wanted to add a couple more
things but I was afraid it would look too busy!

Here is a close up of the front door area.
I really love how the pumpkins turned out!  This is another project
that I did for this space:)

Here is just another little sitting area that I decorated to tie everything together!

Pumpkins Project:
I love to see how others paint and decorate their pumpkins this time
of year but have never really had any success with painting my own.
So then I remembered I had some left over vinyl up in my craft room and thought it
would be a perfect solution to decorating these pumpkins!

Our address is 45 so I thought it would be cute to incorporated that into
the display.  So I used black vinyl and my Cricut machine to cut out the
numbers and there you have it!  Easy as pumpkin pie :)

The other pumpkin I monogrammed and cut circles out to
give it the polka dot pattern!  Beats spending the close to $20 at Hobby Lobby for
a similar version!

Lastly I wanted to share with you the pretty pillows on my rocking chairs out front.
Pillows can really be expensive and if you have a bunch for different seasons, a challenge
to store.  So the other day when I was at Hobby Lobby I wondered back to the
fabric area and found a huge department of pillow covers!  Much to my surprise they
were very affordable too! Below you will see my out door pillows from this summer
ready to be covered!

All I did here was throw the pillow in the case and zip her up!  Now that is
mind kind of sewing project:)  The flower you see on the pillow below are actually
fabric flowers used for scrapbooking.  I found them in the discount section for only $2.39
and thought they would be a nice addition to this pillow design.  The great thing about
them is that I just used black push pins to hold them in place so I will be able
to use this below in more designs/seasons than just one!  So for a total cost
of $7.04 I was able to create a new look that I can use over and over again
on my front porch!  They have a ton of different colors so make sure to check
out this section the next time you are in a Hobby Lobby!

Well I hope maybe you got an idea or two that you can use around
your own house!
I will be joining these great blog parties!!

Happy Friday!

Closet Challenge Outfits 6-10

I would like to begin this post by saying how excited I am about shopping within
my own closet!!  I never really thought I would be this excited about it:)

This challenge really makes you see everything you have and
get creative with what you wear!  I know I would have never put together
some of these outfits by myself and they really are my style!

One of the things I noticed right away after cleaning and organizing
my closet was how much easier it was to get ready and feel
good about what I was wearing!

Below are outfits 6-10 for this challenge!  I hope
you too are able to gain something from shopping within your own closet!

Outfit# 6
Black bottom/ or dark neutral/color with something other than
white.  I really love these red shorts but for some reason they were
at the back of the closet, but not for long!  I really love how the scarf ties
everything together and makes it feel dressier!

Outfit# 7
Something Daring or Exciting!
I bought these pants a couple of months back because I thought
the pattern was pretty but knew I probably wouldn't be brave enough to wear them....
but now paired with this cute top and heels I think this outfit could go from the
office out to dinner!

Outfit# 8
Two or more Accessories than you normally wear!
Well this one isn't too hard to me because I am a huge fan of accessorizing!
However I thought I would come up with a little added flair to this
outfit by adding a pin to the scarf!  LOVE IT!!

Outfit# 9
Something, shiny, sheer, or silky
I actually really like this top but haven't worn it lately so I though
it would be a nice transition piece from Summer to Fall here in Georgia since
during the day it is still pretty warm.  I paired it with a pretty belt and heels!

 Outfit# 10
Something that scares you a little bit!

Well first of all, I love this skirt and have it for many years but I am always
afraid of wearing it because of it being too dressy and I always struggle
for a top to go with it.  So as I organized my closet I came across this pretty but
simple black tank top that I believe could go either dressy or semi-casual.  I paired
this outfit with my favorite pair of Jessica Simpson black heels and now I have
a completely new outfit that didn't cost me a trip to the mall!

Well I hope this post is giving you some ideas for new outfits that
are right inside your closet doors!  Take the challenge and see
what you come up with!!  I would love to hear/see what you find :)

Happy Hump Day!

30 Day Closet Challange

The other weekend we were getting ready to go to
a get together in our neighborhood and I was rushing around trying to
find something to wear and I kept thinking............ I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!!

I know we have all been there but I was literally stressed that I couldn't pick
a single thing out of my closet that I was happy to wear!
I thought to myself you have all of these clothes, some never worn, and you
have nothing to wear!

So this is when I decided to take some time, pull everything out of
my closet re-organize and get rid of the items I no longer
wear!  With that being said I was looking for outfit ideas and
came across a few sites that mentioned shopping from your own closet!

I loved the idea and thought I would give it a try!
Here is the site that inspired me to give this challenge a go and
really make me thing about my shopping habits!

The picture below is a before of my closet:
In all honesty it wasn't too bad but for some reason I could
never stay really organized.

Now here is an after shot:
I pulled everything out, put aside two bags for my next garage sale,
and organized all of the clothing by categories and color.

The two pictures below are just close up shots.
The bins at the top hold all of my purses, totes, and wallets.

So after I completed the closet organization I brought in Shirley to
help me out on this challenge!!  Shirley is my mannequin that I bought
at a garage sale years back that is usually used as a decoration in one of my
guest bedrooms:)  I thought it would be helpful to see the outfits come together
and instead of trying things on several times I could just take a picture of
Shirley wearing them!

So now onto the fun part:)  I will show you the first 5 outfits of this challenge and give
you a description of each task for that day.

Challenge 1:
Colors you've never combined before
I have never worn navy blue with this yellow/mustard colored skirt before:)

Challenge 2:
An item of clothing you haven't worn in 6 months
Actually both the dress and jacket haven't been worn for
more than 6 months!

Day 3 Challenge:
Add a layer
I simply just added a cardigan to this tank top!

Day 4 Challenge:
Something that's "just for good"
I bought this dress to go on a vacation we went on about a
year and a half ago and never wore it since because I always
feel like I need a special occasion to wear it.  So I added a jean jacket and
a belt to it a more casual feel.  I actually really thing it a cute outfit!

Day 5 Challenge:
A dress or skirt, "styled"
Here I took one of my favorite shirt dresses and added some
fun accessories such as a funky scarf and hat!
Love it:)

Lastly I wanted to share a picture with you of myself in my Day 1
outfit!  I actually really love this color combination and think this makes
a cute outfit that I will wear again!

By taking this challenge I already feel like I am getting more
out of my current wardrobe and I hope that it makes me a more
savvy shopper in the future!

I will be linking up with:

Well if you are tired of your current wardrobe  this might be a good
challenge for you!  I will be back next week with Days 6-10!

Happy Friday!

Craft Closet Clutter Contained!!!

Today's project comes from my craft room.  I love that
this room has a huge closet but I didn't want to use the closet as a dumping ground.

So this past weekend I took everything out of the closet and started over!

In all honesty it wasn't too bad but it is better to be proactive!! :)

Below are some pictures of the space.  One of the best aspects of this
project is it didn't cost me a cent!  I had all of the baskets and containers already
so with just a little bit of time set aside I was able to create a more functional
and organized space!  You can't beat that :)

Below is a before picture, which really wasn't too bad but
I could sense I was headed down the wrong path if I kept putting things in
this space without a home!

Once everything was removed from the space I could see what I had
and what I wanted to keep!

Each shelf serves a purpose and items can easily be
found.  I took some left over scrap booking paper and
gave four of the clear containers a face lift just to add a little
fun element!

Now when I walk into this space I feel like everything is in
its place and if I need to store more items I can find the room
to put them without just tossing them on a shelf and shutting the door!

So did you takle any projects over this past weekend?
I would love to see them, leave me a comment with your blog
address and I will stop by to see what you accomplished!

Happy Monday!

Falling In Love With Fall Around the House!

Today I wanted to share with you some of my Fall decorations
around our home.  I love this time year from the weather to
all of the beautiful colors so I usually like to get my decorations up early!

I actually went with a little less this year but I think it turned out well!

This display is in our entry wall to our home.
I think I might change out the wreath because I am not 100%
sold on the colors of the wreath but I do like the rest of the display :)

Above is a picture of our dining room.  I went ahead and set the table
because I love the dishes that I have for this time of year and wanted to
make sure I got to use them :)
This past weekend I scored two more old suit cases at a garage sale
so I thought it would be fun to use them in my Fall display!

Here is is a close up of the table display.

Here is a small display on the buffet piece in our dining room.

Last but not least here is a small display we have in our eat in kitchen area.
This table was another great score over the weekend at our community
yard sales!  I think it really goes well with a our current table and is a
great space to decorate for the holidays!!!

Happy Fall Y'all!!!

Scarf Storage

I may or may not have a scraf obsession :)
A scraf can really add a little extra element to any outfit so
when I see a new color or pattern I usually snatch it up!

That is where the storage of them comes into play.  I was going to buy
one of the hanger storage hooks but I had too many.  I looked around the house
and found an old shoe organizer that I didn't use anymore and thought.....
that might be perfect!!

Below is a picture of an over the door hook that
is on the back of my closet door and then the organizer lines
up perfectly!

Above is a close up of all of the scarves.
This way I can see everything I have and easily match it
up with an outfit!

Remember it doesn't have to be expensive to be organized!

Happy Tuesday!

Beauty Bliss

Today's project is probably one of my favorite I have done in our new
house.  Also probably one of the easiest and cheapest ;) A winning combination!

Below is a picture of our master bathroom, which I love!
I wanted to make my process of getting ready in the morning more functional so
I took each cabinet and organized them from the beginning, which
is a benefit of moving and starting with a clean slate!

Here is the drawer before I started:

Below is a picture of all of my make up stash!

I usually try to find inexpensive organizing products that
I can tweak before I buy a more pricey or prettier version because I
change my mind a lot and you need to see what works for you!
For this project I used a left over drawer organizer that I purchased
from Ikea for only $2.99 and my label maker! I am currently a little
obsessed with my label maker;)
Here are the categories I used:
Hair, Face, Lips, Eyes, & Eye Shadow

Now the finished product:)
I can see everything I have and it makes getting ready in
the morning a breeze and more enjoyable!
I think now that I can see everything I have it cuts down on
what I buy because now I know if I have it or not!
So for 20 minutes of my time and left over items I had around the
house I was able to create a more functional space!
